We are Compounder—a Cologne-based technology company that has set out to fundamentally transform the admissions processes at German private universities.
When Paula Vorbeck, Evelyn Wagner and Carmine Siena founded Compounder GmbH in Cologne in 2020, they had no idea just how far their idea would take them. What began as a platform for the preliminary screening of application documents has now become the technological foundation for one of the most complex processes in the education sector: national and international university admissions.
The aim is to fundamentally rethink this process. Our goal is to create an international network that connects universities worldwide and streamlines and accelerates admissions procedures across national borders. The focus is on optimising internal processes at private universities: AdmitCheck automates repetitive, time-consuming verification steps, thereby providing significant relief for university staff—time that can then be reinvested in advising, supporting students and addressing cases of hardship.
At the same time, the whole team is convinced that efficiency and fairness need not be at odds with one another. The smoother and more transparent the admissions processes are, the greater the equality of opportunity for international students—regardless of which country or education system they come from. The aim is to create an infrastructure that takes the pressure off higher education institutions, speeds up processes and enables young people worldwide to have fair access to education.
Paula, Evelyn and Carmine found the Compounder GmbH—first, as a platform to facilitate the application process for prospective students, pre-evaluating documents for universities.
Partner universities want the technology—the advent of AdmitCheck. Three years of expansion and optimisation within a real university environment are about to begin.
Discussions with major public universities have led to uni-assist. Germany’s largest institution for the assessment of international university applications is embarking on a close collaboration—and will take a stake in Compounder GmbH in April 2026.
The software, with all its modules, will be made available to private universities across Germany. uni-assist’s decades of experience combine with a start-up mindset and modern product development.
Germany’s largest organisation specialising in international university applications is investing in the technology behind AdmitCheck.
